Scope Terms, Privacy & Accessibility

Your agreement with Remnant

These Terms govern how you access, schedule, and share Remnant captures. They are designed to protect ownership of your scans while creating a respectful environment for memory exploration.

Effective date: October 28th, 2025

Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old to schedule or purchase a scan.
  • Anyone may view scans displayed with a public link or on the Remnant showcase.

Accounts

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials.
  • Provide accurate and current information when creating an account.
  • Remnant may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

Ownership of scans

  • All scans and processed 3D data remain the property of the customer.
  • Customers may opt in to feature their scans in the Remnant Showcase.
  • Remnant never uses or distributes scan data without explicit permission.

Right to refuse service

Remnant reserves the right to decline or discontinue service at its discretion when safety, integrity, or legal compliance is at risk, including cases involving:

  • Unsafe or inaccessible scanning environments.
  • Misuse of Services or attempts to interfere with Remnant systems.
  • Violation of these Terms or applicable laws.

Data storage & inactivity

  • Memory links remain active for 12 months from the last access.
  • After 12 months of inactivity, Remnant emails a reminder to the account holder.
  • No response within 14 days moves the memory into secure hard storage.
  • Hard-stored memories require direct contact with Remnant to retrieve.
  • Remnant may delete data if required by law, for technical needs, or extended inactivity.

Payments, deposits & refunds

Deposits

  • A non-refundable deposit confirms each scan appointment.
  • Deposits are $200 for small jobs and $400 for large jobs, applied to the capture cost.

Cancellations

  • Cancellations ≥48 hours before the scan receive full refunds, deposit included.
  • Cancellations <48 hours forfeit the deposit.

Refunds after service

  • Refunds may be issued if significant issues arise with the scan results.
  • A Remnant technician reviews each request and determines any refund percentage.
  • Refunds will not exceed 80% of the total capture price (excluding the deposit).
  • Approved customers may request the raw .ply file in addition to or instead of a refund.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Services for unlawful purposes.
  • Reverse engineer, disrupt, or misuse the platform.
  • Upload or distribute harmful, offensive, or infringing content.

Limitation of liability

  • Services are provided “as is” without guarantees of uninterrupted availability.
  • Remnant is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
  • Liability is limited to the amount paid for the Services in question.

Modifications

Remnant may update these Terms periodically. The latest version will be posted here with a revised effective date. Continued use of the Services indicates acceptance.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles.

How we honor your data

Your vault is sacred territory. This Privacy Policy outlines the information we collect, how we use it, and the safeguards in place to keep your memories encrypted, private, and under your control.

Information we collect

  • Contact information: name, email address, and phone number.
  • Account information: login credentials if you create an account.
  • Payment information: billing details handled by secure third-party providers.
  • Order information: scheduling details, service notes, and property locations.
  • Scan data: LiDAR captures, Gaussian splats, processed 3D files, and related metadata.

How we use your information

  • Provide, schedule, and complete scanning services.
  • Create and manage customer accounts.
  • Authenticate logins and secure vault access.
  • Process payments and deliver completed scans.
  • Communicate about orders, support requests, and optional marketing if you opt in.
  • Enforce our right to refuse service in the event of unsafe conditions or misuse of Services.

Ownership of scans

  • All scans and processed data remain the property of the customer.
  • Customers may opt in to feature scans in the Remnant Showcase.
  • Remnant does not use or share scan data without customer consent.

How we share information

We do not sell personal information. Data is shared only with:

  • Service providers supporting hosting, authentication, payments, and email.
  • Legal authorities when compliance with law or valid legal requests is required.
  • Trusted parties during business transfers such as mergers, acquisitions, or asset sales.

Data retention

We retain personal information and scan data while your account is active or as needed to provide services. Customers may request account or data deletion at any time.

Cookies & tracking

Remnant does not use third-party tracking or analytics tools. Cookies power essential functionality such as logins and session management.

Eligibility

  • Customers must be at least 18 years old to book a scan or create an account.
  • Anyone may view scans that are intentionally shared on the website.

Security

We apply encryption, access controls, and organizational safeguards to protect personal information and scan data. While no system is flawless, we constantly harden defenses.

Children's privacy

Remnant does not knowingly collect information from individuals under 18 for scanning services. Any discovered data is deleted promptly.

Changes to this policy

Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of the Services after updates indicates acceptance.

We're committed to an inclusive experience that adapts to different abilities, devices, and assistive technologies. Accessibility is not legally required for Remnant yet, but we treat it as essential practice.

Core journeys: from booking a scan to entering the Memory Vault align with WCAG 2.2 AA guidance. We continue to refine color contrast, motion sensitivity, keyboard flows, and screen reader support.
